American Dreamer AwardsImmigrant Heritage Week, established by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg in 2004, celebrates the experiences and contributions of immigrants to New York City. This year, Immigrant Heritage Week is from April 11 to April 17 and celebrates the vibrant life stories New Yorkers have to tell. We are partnering with StoryCorps to share the stories that make up our diverse and wonderful City.

StoryCorps is a national, nonprofit organization with a mission to provide Americans of all backgrounds and beliefs with the opportunity to record, share, and preserve the stories of our lives.

Storycorps will be accepting reservations to participate in an interview for Immigrant Heritage Week starting Tuesday, March 22. Don’t miss this opportunity to share your story!

> 2011 American Dreamer Awards
The American Dreamer Awards were created to celebrate the significant accomplishments and contributions made by an individual or organization to better the lives of immigrants and immigrant communities in New York City. The 2011 winners will be debuted at this year’s Immigrant Heritage Week reception. A number of community organizations and individuals from across the five boroughs nominated over 100 individuals across the 5 categories.

The internal selection committee is currently going over the nominees.
